When it comes to local content, measuring our performance is important to track our success. Calculation and reporting of Kazakhstani content spent is one of the legal requirements for TCO. It’s in our best interests to ensure that TCO suppliers are familiar with methodology of KC calculation. On a quarterly basis we conduct relevant training for our Business Partners that cover certain aspects of Subsoil Use Code and governmental decrees, which govern the calculation of local content, basic concepts and definitions, and examples of calculating KC in goods and services spent. Please note that this training is dedicated to TCO’s current suppliers and contractors only.
Atyrau, Kazakhstan, April 25, 2024 — Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) has safely started operations at its Wellhead Pressure Management Project (WPMP) at the Tengiz oil field, with the conversion of the first metering station to low pressure, and by bringing online the associated Pressure Boost Facility (PBF).
This is a key milestone in the company’s overall expansion project at Tengiz. The WPMP is designed to keep existing Tengiz processing plants at full capacity (of approximately 28 million tonnes per annum), by lowering the flowing pressure at the wellheads and then boosting the pressure to the existing plants. The additional PBF compressors will start up and the remaining metering stations will be converted through the remainder of the year.
The final stage of TCO’s expansion project, known as the Future Growth Project (FGP), is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2025. This will enable TCO to expand Tengiz crude oil production by an incremental 12 million tons per annum (260,000 barrels a day).
“This is a major step in advancing our Future Growth Project to its safe completion and will also help maintain reliable performance at our base business at Tengiz”, said Kevin Lyon, TCO General Director.
“Achieving this milestone would not be possible without the unwavering support from the Government of Kazakhstan and many other important stakeholders including our partners, contractor companies, the communities where we work, and our talented and dedicated workforce”, Kevin Lyon added.
As part of the overall FGP-WPMP project, to date, over $18 billion has been spent on Kazakhstani goods and services. Furthermore, about 4000 local employees have received specialized training so as to contribute to the work on the PBF project scope.
“I am proud of the capabilities of Kazakhstani companies who have gained valuable experience through partnerships with international companies and technology transfers”, said Konilkosh Suyessinov, TCO Deputy General Director.
Tengizchevroil will continue to work with its partners and the Republic of Kazakhstan Government to advance the safe completion of the FGP-WPMP project.
